Palight BuildBoard is a lightweight panel, composed of cellular polymers, that Palram says is approximately half the weight of MDF and particleboard and comparable in weight to plywood.

MANHEIM, Lancaster County, Pa. – Palram Americas will showcase two alternatives to MDF, particleboard, plywood, and other wood substrates used in cabinets and furniture at Wood Pro Expo Lancaster. Samples of the two products – Palight BuildBoard and Palboard – will be displayed at Palram’s booth #216 during the two-day tradeshow set to take place Oct. 14-15 at the Spooky Nook Sports complex. Palight BuildBoard is a lightweight panel, composed of cellular polymers, that Palram says is approximately half the weight of MDF and particleboard and comparable in weight to plywood. This lighter weight helps reduce operator, fabricator, and installer fatigue; and reduces handling and freight costs.

According to Palram, Palight BuildBoard cuts and fabricates easily, while its density provides “superior screw retention compared to particleboard, and similar retention compared to MDF and plywood.” It can be stapled, nailed, and riveted, and accepts mechanical fasteners as easily as wood. The lightweight panels can be painted without priming and its surface can be customized with digital printing or covered with HPL, 3DL, and TFL. Palram adds that the cellular polymer composition of Palight BuildBoard makes it resistant to moisture, mold, mildew, and bacterial growth. It is UL-94 V-O fire-rated, lead & phthalate-free, will not delaminate, and can withstand harsh chemicals and repeated disinfection.

Palboard is a multilayer PVC panel that offers high structural strength while being relatively lightweight. It features two solid PVC surfaces and a dense, foam PVC core.

Palboard is easy to fabricate using v-groove routing and provides an ultra-smooth and uniform surface that resists dents and scratches, according to Palram. The panels can be cold bent. Palram says Palboard is ideal for mitered shelving, retail kiosks, 3D structures, POP displays, store fixtures, organizational storage, countertops, and more.  Learn more at palightbuildboard.com.
